Malaga - Tangier

Our Moroccan adventure starts with a leisure ride through the beautiful ‘Costa del Sol’ highway out of Málaga to Tarifa, stopping to admire spectacular views of the Strait of Gibraltar. Once in Tarifa, we’ll board the ferry for the 90-minute crossing to mysterious Tangier, in times past home to shady merchants, spies, and smugglers. Tangier is now one of the most prosperous cities in the country due to its strategic and ideal geographic location for commercial maritime traffic between North Africa and Europe.

In the afternoon, we will ride leisurely to the outskirts of Tangier to our beautiful hotel overlooking the ocean and have a relaxing and excellent dinner. A good rest night will get us ready to start exploring Morocco tomorrow!

Tangier - Fes

Our journey continues inland as we make our way to Fes, the cultural capital of Morocco. We’ll avoid the highways and take the scenic route through the Rif Mountains, a completely different landscape on the road full of exciting curves.

Along the way, stops to enjoy cups of mint tea and meet the friendly locals. Once we arrive in Fes, we’ll probably still have enough free time to explore part of the city’s medina, a maze-like bazaar filled with shops, restaurants, and architectural gems.

Fes - Bin El Ouidane

After leaving Fes in the morning, our first stop will be Ifrane, also called the ‘Switzerland of Morocco’. Ifrane is known for its alpine-style architecture and nearby ski slopes and forests. Pressing on to the south, we’ll follow the roads that will take us through M’Rirt, Khenifra, and Tighassaline.

We are now in the High Atlas region, with mountains that rank amongst North Africa’s highest and offer some of Morocco’s most spectacular natural scenery. Snow-capped peaks, green valleys, and picturesque Berber settlements will make this another memorable ride. Our destination for the day is Bin El Ouidane, a picturesque lakeside town surrounded by towering cliffs.

Bin El Ouidane - Marrakech

We’ll start today by following the R304, a winding road that takes us through stunning mountain ranges and small villages, where we can stop and chat with locals, learn about their culture, and taste some traditional cuisine. After reaching the town of Demnat, we switch to secondary roads that take us through the heart of the Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz region. This area is famous for its rolling hills, fertile farmland, and traditional rural life.

Marrakech waits for our group! After checking into our hotel, let’s walk through the world-famous Jemaa el-Fna Square to start our visit to this most extraordinary city and enjoy its culinary delicacies while watching the lively night scene in the ancient medina.

After breakfast, we’ll leave our hotel on a guided tour of the city, undoubtedly the best way to spend a whole day getting to know one of the most sought-after destinations in North Africa. On our itinerary are famous landmarks like the historic Bahia Palace, the Menara Gardens, a cheerful Berber pharmacy, the majestic Koutoubia Mosque, and the famous Medina of Marrakech.

Marrakech - Rabat

Leaving Marrakech behind, we start our way back to the coast today. Our destination will be Rabat, Morocco’s vibrant capital. We’ll make our way north via Errafiaya and El Aamria, an area famous for its argan trees, which grow exclusively in Morocco and produce a valuable oil used in cooking and cosmetics. Let’s ensure we bring some Argan oil back home, which is really good!

We’ll then continue to El Borouj, following the N23, passing by Ben Simon, before finally arriving in Rabat, the capital of Morocco. A visit to the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the impressive Hassan Tower is in order before we get ready for our last Moroccan dinner on the trip.

Rabat - Malaga

On our final road day for this tour, we head north to Tangier and the ferry crossing back into Spain. The route will take us along the Atlantic coastline, stopping in Asilah, a beautiful coastal town with white-washed houses and a historic medina. Here, we’ll have the chance to explore the town’s colorful murals, which have turned Asilah into an open-air art gallery.

Another short sailing on the ferry will bring us to Tarifa. After disembarking, we’ll grab a quick lunch and head back on the Costa del Sol highway to Málaga, where a fantastic celebration dinner awaits our group. Delicious tapas and great wine will mark the end of our journey!
