Lisbon - Monchique
We leave magically enlightened Lisbon, once the world's capital city, and ride south towards the Serra da Arrábida and its incredible views of the ocean below. In Setúbal, we take the ferryboat to cross the Sado River to start our ride alongside the Vicentina coast, with plenty of small and cozy villages on our way.
The coast on the western side of Portugal is full of surprises, and many consider it as beautiful, if not even more, than the world-famous Algarve on the south. Be prepared to enjoy magnificent coastal views as we ride along the Costa Vicentina and visit some of its splendid beaches. Our stop for the day will be the charming town of Monchique.

Monchique - Mértola
After a peaceful night in the Serra de Monchique, the day begins with an interior exploration, crossing the impressive mountain ranges. We return to the coast, passing through the picturesque town of Lagos and following the coast to Ferragudo in time for lunch.
After saying goodbye to the coast, we head north, crossing a lesser-known area of the Algarve. Our route takes us through stunning twists and turns to Silves and then Cachopo. We continue our journey through the enchanting landscapes of the Herdade da Parra National Park, heading towards Mértola.
Our destination is one of the most beautiful towns in Portugal, set within the walls of a castle and surrounded by the Guadiana River. Here, we immerse ourselves in the rich history and natural beauty that the town of Mértola has to offer.

Mértola - Évora
We leave Mértola and head to the UNESCO world heritage site of Évora. For lunch, we stop in Monsaraz, a sensational medieval hilltop town in Alentejo with one of the most stunning castles in Portugal.
Alentejo is a poster region likened to Tuscany or Provence, full of wheat fields, cork oak forests, and wildflower meadows. We’ll ride through timeless villages to reach Évora, another lovely medieval town with much to offer in terms of culture and gastronomy. Our hotel inside the walled city will be a perfect starting point for a relaxed walk on Évora’s old narrow streets.

Evora - Lisbon
It’s our final day on the road, but there’s still much to be seen and felt before we return our bikes to Lisbon. A stretch of fast highways will allow us enough time to explore the surroundings of Portugal’s capital city. We’ll pass through the green landscape of Parque Nacional de Sintra-Cascais and enjoy breathtaking views of the cliffs at Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe.
Next, we follow a delightful road embracing the mountains down to the fishermen’s cozy town of Cascais and a sublime ride alongside the coast back to Lisbon. The final night of our trip will be dedicated to the memories Portugal will have left on us all as we make a toast to new friends and new adventures!
